Troubleshooting

"Build failed" during product import

Most build failures happen at import time, before a credit is consumed. The most common causes:

  • Source URL unreachable. The retailer is temporarily blocking us, or the page no longer exists. Retry after a minute or use a different product source.
  • Source page format changed. Amazon and AliExpress occasionally redesign their pages, which breaks our extractors. We typically ship a fix within twenty-four hours. Retry the next day, or import from your Shopify catalog if the product is already there.
  • Page is region-locked or behind a login. We cannot import from URLs that require authentication or a specific geography. Export the product to your Shopify catalog first and import from there.

Page renders, but copy looks generic

This almost always means we did not get a rich enough product import. Check:

  • Did you tag your images at the Media step? Untagged media falls back to defaults.
  • Did the source product have a detailed description? Sparse Amazon products produce sparse Mashup pages.
  • Try regenerating individual blocks with the Copy Studio — sometimes one section just needs a fresh roll.

Page renders, but a section is missing

A section may be hidden. Check the section list in the Studio — the eye icon on each row toggles visibility. Hidden sections still exist; you can re-show them with one click.

If the section is truly missing from your template, use Add section in the Studio. Every template ships with optional sections that are not used by default but can be added at any time.

Publish completes, but page does not show on storefront

Check the URL Mashup published to. The page lives at yourstore.com/products/PRODUCT-HANDLE?view=MASHUP-HANDLE. The ?view= parameter is what tells Shopify to render the Mashup template instead of the default product template. Without the parameter, Shopify shows the default page.

If you want the Mashup page to be the default for that product, set it as the active product template in your Shopify product admin → Theme template → pick the Mashup-generated template name.

Publish completes, but page styling is broken

The most common cause is a theme that does not load the global CSS Mashup expects. Check Theme customization → App embeds → Mashup widgets — the embed must be enabled for styling to load. If the embed is enabled and styling is still broken, re-publishing from Mashup uploads the latest CSS assets.

AI Product Photo result looks nothing like the product

Try a different reference image — one that shows the product more clearly, from a more typical angle. If you are using a portrait reference and asking for a landscape result, the model has to extrapolate sides of the product it has never seen. Picking matching reference aspect ratios produces better results.

You can also try a different model. Nano Banana sometimes invents features; Nano Banana Pro is more faithful to the reference.

"Out of build credits"

Open Settings → Plans to see your current usage and the cycle reset date. You can either wait for the cycle to reset or upgrade your plan to a tier with a larger build allowance. Build credits cannot be purchased as overage packs.

"Out of AI Photo tokens"

You have three options: wait for cycle reset, buy a one-time overage pack from the photo studio (50, 100, or 500 tokens), or upgrade your plan.

Subscription says "grace period"

This means a Shopify charge failed. Open Shopify Settings → Billing → Payment methods and confirm or update your card. Shopify will retry within a few hours and your subscription will return to active automatically.

"Theme compatibility check failed"

The theme you are publishing to is missing something Mashup needs. The dialog tells you exactly what is missing and offers a one-click reinstall in most cases. If the reinstall does not solve it, contact support — sometimes the theme is too old to support OS 2.0.
