Frequently Asked Questions

4 min read

Do I need to know how to code?

No. Mashup is built for merchants, not developers. You will never see Liquid or HTML unless you choose to.

Will my pages slow down my storefront?

No. Mashup-published pages compile to native Shopify templates. There is no runtime JavaScript dependency on Mashup — once a page is published, it runs as pure Shopify Online Store 2.0, and your page load times are identical to any other Shopify page.

Can I use Mashup with a custom theme?

If the theme is built on Online Store 2.0 — almost every modern Shopify theme — yes. The compatibility check at publish time tells you for certain.

Can I use Mashup with Shopify Hydrogen?

Not currently. Mashup publishes to Shopify's themes, which Hydrogen replaces entirely. Hydrogen support is on our roadmap but no committed timeline.

Do my pages get indexed by Google?

Yes. Mashup-published pages are server-rendered HTML, fully crawlable and indexable. Use the SEO Meta feature to make sure they show up well in search.

Can multiple team members use Mashup?

Anyone with access to your Shopify admin and the right permission level can open Mashup. There is no separate user management. Permissions are inherited from Shopify staff settings.

Can I export my Mashup pages?

The published pages are Shopify Liquid templates that live in your theme. You can download your theme from Shopify at any time, which includes every Mashup-published template. Pages are not locked into Mashup — they belong to your theme.

What languages does Mashup support?

More than thirty languages, with full right-to-left support for Hebrew and Arabic. Full list at mashupai.io/languages.

What products is Mashup best suited for?

Physical products with strong visual identity — fashion, beauty, accessories, electronics, home goods, food, and lifestyle. Mashup also works for digital products (courses, software, e-books), but the visual templates skew toward physical goods.

Can I use my own copy and just have Mashup do the design?

Yes. The Design Studio lets you replace any AI-generated text with your own, block by block. Some merchants treat Mashup as a copy generator; others treat it as a design tool with built-in writing. Both workflows are first-class.

Can I use my own images?

Yes. Upload at the Media step, or replace any image in the Design Studio. There is no requirement to use AI Product Photos.

How fresh is the AI?

We continuously update our copy and image models to the latest stable versions from our providers. We test new models before rolling them out so quality only improves.

Does Mashup replace my theme?

No. Mashup publishes templates into your theme. Your theme remains in control of your storefront's overall look. Mashup pages are individual product page templates within that theme.

Can I A/B test my pages?

Yes, in two ways. First, the same product can have multiple Mashup templates published — point half your traffic at one and half at another, using any A/B testing tool you already use (e.g., Shopify Native A/B, third-party split testers). Second, the same template can have multiple palette and copy variants saved to My Pages → Duplicate.

Will my customers know the page was AI-generated?

Almost never. Mashup pages are designed and copywritten specifically for your product — they do not have a generic "AI look". The combination of palette, image selection, layout choice, and Copy Studio tone produces work that is indistinguishable from a custom-built page by a hired agency.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes. Cancel at any time from Settings → Plans. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle — you keep access to everything you have paid for through the end of the period.

Will you train AI models on my data?

No. None of the model providers we use train on your data, and we do not provide your data to any third party for training purposes. Your imported product data, generated content, and any uploaded images are private to your shop.

What happens if Mashup goes out of business?

Your Mashup-published pages live entirely inside your Shopify theme. If Mashup were to shut down tomorrow, every page you have already published would continue to work indefinitely on your storefront, because they are just Liquid templates in your theme files. You would lose the ability to create new pages, but nothing live would break.

Do you offer a referral program?

Yes. Each customer gets a unique referral link from Settings → Refer a Friend. When a referred merchant subscribes, you both receive a one-month credit on your current plan. Referral credits stack up to twelve months.

Is there a Mashup community?

We have an active community at mashupai.io/community where merchants share what they have built, ask questions, and trade growth tips. Anyone can join.

Still stuck?

We read every email — typically within one business day.
